    The new MicroCapClub Contest is now live. Entrants have until end of day on October 31st to register and enter their five microcap stocks. The MicroCapClub Contest is a long only, buy and hold only contest. The contest was created to identify who the best micro cap stock pickers are over the course of time. Almost anyone can manipulate a stock or just get lucky in the short term. This contest is aimed to take out the short-term component (ie: manipulation and luck) since time is the great equalizer. Doing well in this contest is a function of macro intelligence + micro intelligence. The stocks you pick for this contest will be evaluated on a 12-month performance.

    On Sept 2nd, 2011 we started the Micro Cap Club Stock Pickers Contest.  The MicroCapClub Stock Pickers Contest is a long only, buy and hold only, contest. The contest was created to identify who the best micro cap stock pickers are over the course of time. Almost anyone can manipulate a stock in the short term to get a quick gain. Heck most of the penny stock guru writers with a subscription base do it all the time. This contest is aimed to take out the short term component (ie: manipulation component) since time is the great equalizer. Doing well in this contest is a function of macro intelligence + micro intelligence + luck.

    Each participant picked five micro cap stocks each with the winner having the highest cumulative portfolio return.  The contest would be evaluated on 6 month, 12 month, 18 month, and 24 month performance. We announced round 1 results (6 month results) this week.  I would compare this to the first quarter of the Super Bowl.  Honolulu Trader has a huge lead after the first quarter, so lets see if he can hang on to it.

  • Micro Cap Club Stock Pickers Contest

    We started the Micro Cap Club Stock Pickers Contest on September 2nd of 2011.  I uploaded all 140 or so companies into a Yahoo Portfolio to track performance (see below).   Since Sept 2nd, the S&P is up 1%, and our 140 micro cap company entrants are down a combined 11.77%.  I haven’t yet calculated individual performance based on each entrant’s five entries (that will be in mid February).  Needless to say it has been a very rough 2nd half of 2011 in the micro cap – small cap world.  Just as I thought, a few of my picks are at the bottom of the performance heap.  I was telling a friend of mine the other day I’d like to merge a couple of my piece of shit investments into one giant piece of shit so at least I can just track one loser ;) Since the markets decline beginning in early August, a lot of the life ie: liquidity has been sucked out of micro cap, but there are still quite a few micro caps that have bucked the trend.  I congratulate those investors in AMNF, EGAN, FLOW, FTK, NMRX, and SYEV which are all up 50%+ since the beginning of the contest.
