Pennaluna & Company is one of the few small FINRA broker dealers left that deal mostly in microcaps. Broker dealers like Pennaluna are slowly going extinct (1 in 7 left the business in the past five years) due to increased regulation and escalating costs. Pennaluna has always been on the forefront talking about issues affecting microcaps. Earlier this year I posted an informative article by them entitled, Penny Stocks Refused For Deposit, Why It’s Happening Now, How to Cope. Today I thought I’d post another article talking about Direct Registration of Shares.  Read More …

For those of you suffered through [Part 1], congratulations!  You’ll be pleased to know, that you are well ahead of the rest of the class by preparing in advance for next Friday’s quiz.  (Ian, I know you’re a special student but can gain extra credit points by staying after class and cleaning the board erasers.) All kidding aside after re-reading the first part in preparation for this next section, I noted there was a lot of material covered and probably too much repetition. The section might have been better titled, “Like Teaching Kama Sutra in High School Health class: Too much, too fast!”

For the detention students who missed the last section, you missed a lot of fun.  No, not really.  We covered a lot of material…a little history about the market, the roots of investment contrarianism, a boatload of personal data and experiences and possibly some worthwhile observations.  This was all targeted to convince readers that the next major move for small- and micro-cap should be a roaring, secular rally. In August, I wrote about hard mailer pump and dumps, and listed the performance of some that I’ve received here at my own home. A hard mailer is nothing more then a pump and dump. The company themselves, affiliates, or large shareholders pay millions of dollars to mail out glossy 20 page reports trying to dupe investors to buy the underlying stock so they can sell their positions.   Read More …

  • 8 Habits Of Highly Effective MicroCap CEOs

Posted November 7, 2012 By in Blog, Educational With | 4 Comments 8 Habits Of Highly Effective MicroCap CEOs

I learned how to invest in microcaps by losing my own money over and over again.  I’ve found that the key to successfully investing in microcaps is betting on the right jockey, or in other words, investing in the right CEO.  The difference between a good company and a great company is a CEO that executes. The difference between a good stock and great stock is a CEO that executes who is 100% aligned with shareholders interests.  When you think back about some of the biggest microcap success stories you realize it has more to do with the CEO then even the underlying product or service that is being sold.  The eight habits below are what I find very important, and when you find the CEO that meets all of these criteria, it usually means you found a microcap winner.
